Search and Teach

Early Dyslexia Intervention

Search & Teach is an early identification and intervention program designed to meet the educational needs of young learners before they experience the frustration of learning failure.

The National Center for Improving Literacy states that

"Early intervention is very important because, in many instances, with effective instruction, we can prevent dyslexia. It includes early screening because, in order to identify children who are at risk, we need to identify them early and introduce effective instruction at a time when we can really optimize a child’s access to print.

It’s much better to intervene earlier than to wait until the child actually fails because remediation is demonstrably less effective. For example, a recent study by Maureen Lovett found that outcomes were almost twice as good if interventions were delivered in first and second grade than in third grade."

The Search scan allows us to identify potential foundational skill and perceptual issues that will impact your child's ability to learn to read. Contact me today to discuss setting up a Search scan assessement. If it reveals areas of concern, we can discuss next steps you can work on at home, or registration in a Teach program to shore up your child's target areas for development.

Educational Therapy

Helping Students Learn how to Learn

Educational therapy is like “physiotherapy” for your child’s brain. Through a series of diagnostic assessments, we identify your child’s strengths and intentionally work to strengthen areas of underlying weakness that may be affecting their ability to think effectively and efficiently in both academic and real-world settings.

Educational therapy targets specific areas of the brain and key cognitive skills. The tasks are carefully designed and backed by decades of research and development, focusing on goals such as verbal comprehension, visual-spatial skills, fluid reasoning, working memory, and processing speed.

Educational therapy meets your child where they are and scaffolds their learning in a way that supports growth in a non-threatening, confidence-building environment. This is essential, because a child must first believe they can learn before they can develop the confidence and skills needed to reach their full potential. Reach out to learn more about what an educational therapy session looks like and how your child can benefit.

Unplugged: Outdoor Play Experiences

Nature Based Learning for Real Life

What sets our program apart is the intentional structure behind that freedom. Each experience is thoughtfully guided and grounded in current neuroscience, child development, and outdoor education practices. We carefully design our sessions to support growth, resilience, and confidence. It may look simple, but every element has purpose.

Each day various activities will be offered to participants/group and they gravitate towards what interests them that day. Crafts, campfires, songs, stories, skits, stream exploration, fort building, hiking, map and compass skills, knot tying, classic games like Kick-the- Can and Sardines, and camp-craft skills like lashing together structures and shelters.

Let's get the conversation started.

"Educational Therapy is about teaching students how to think, not what to think."
